We understand the value of a thorough review, so all our translations go through a review stage. This means that for translation-only projects, translators carry out a full review of their own work. For TEP projects, a second specialist carries out a full review of the translation. This process is further streamlined by the fact that all translators/reviewers work at our Production Centre (EuroGreek House) in Athens, so they can easily discuss terminology, style and other facets of the project swiftly and directly. This results in error-free, high quality translations, thus allowing us to offer our Quality and On-time Delivery Guarantee.

Third Party Review

Many freelancers or translation agencies do not use a translator-reviewer team for their projects, which results in translations being delivered to the client without proper review. This means there can be missing text, typos or mistranslations. We can undertake the review of these translations, provided their quality is above average. For lower quality documents, we suggest re-translation, which is usually of equal cost and produces much better end-results.

Additional Services

Not a typical translation project. We follow the EU Community Trademark System to translate from Greek into English, product descriptions and logos according to the EU Nice classifications for applications made at the Trademark Office. These translations follow strict guidelines and receive official feedback from the Trademark Bureau.

For translations into Greek, we can also provide the translated text in Latin characters, together with pronunciation instructions for the non-Greek speaker to read the text aloud. Popular uses are:

  • For foreign visitors who want to give a short speech in Greek to their local audience, in order to make a good impression.
  • For companies who want to provide voice-overs or other audio content.
  • For use in bilingual dictionaries or glossaries.

Phonetic Guides

A short guide on how to pronounce the Greek alphabet letters, in order to read Greek. It is usually supplied as supporting material for transliteration projects.

Back Translations

Many clients require an additional type of linguistic quality control, in the form of a back translation. First the text is translated by following the usual procedure. A different translator (with the opposite mother-tongue language set) translates the text back from the target language into the source language. This translation is rather literal and unpolished. The purpose is to highlight any mistranslations or ambiguous text. We often provide back translations for 3rd party translations, as well as for our own translations.

Localisation Services

We offer website and software localisation solutions, including end-user product testing and OLR services.

We also co-operate with our clients using custom end-software compilation tools, carrying out cutting-edge technology projects, such as:

  • Car Diagnostics Systems
  • Company Websites
  • Computer Games
  • IT products
  • Medical Devices
  • Mobile Telecommunications
  • Office Equipment
  • Telecommunications

Having in-house IT experts means we can liaise more effectively with our clients, providing integrated solutions that can save them hundreds of man-hours and help them successfully complete large projects on time.

Our localisation services include:

  • Localisation for the Web. We undertake the localisation of any website or web-based application in our language combinations. Depending on whether the content is static or database-driven, different approaches may be required, as per client needs and specific project requirements.
  • HTML/XML Processing. Utilising a full set of CAT tools we are able to process nearly all Internet document types, from standard HTML to more complex script (ASP/PHP/JSP etc) and XML structures (subject to DTD availability).
  • Localisation Testing. We can perform OLR as well as connotation and usability checks on localised content, in order to ensure both its contextual integrity and its appropriateness for the Greek market. Furthermore, we can undertake localised software usability testing projects for both IT and mobile telephony platforms.
  • Name Evaluations. Before launching a new product on local markets, international companies want to avoid any negative connotations, cultural faux pas, pronunciation difficulties or similar-sounding existing products for their brands, logos or taglines. We perform these checks, either using the client’s specifications, or our own general feedback report. Similar evaluations can be carried out for a company’s own name or logo, when they are new to the Greek market or planning a name change.

Online Review (OLR)

When the translated material for websites and intranets has been uploaded, a final check of the linguistic content, formatting and links can be carried out before the site goes live.

On-site Testing

We undertake localisation and/or testing at the client’s premises when

  • a product is in the final stages of production and security is an issue.
  • software text is still being revised in several languages, making it easier for the client to have their international team of linguists all in one place, to update content as and when it is ready.
  • the client requires proprietary software programs/machines to be used, which can only be run on site.

Desktop Publishing Services

We offer the following services, for both Mac OS and Windows platforms:

  • DTP using most popular applications (InDesign, QuarkXPress, FrameMaker, PPT etc.).
  • Image Processing (Photoshop, Illustrator etc.).
  • Pre-press file preparation, providing clients with print-ready material.
  • All types of possible file conversions, e.g. cross-platform and cross-application conversions.
  • Checking of client-converted files.

We undertake text for DTP in the following target languages:

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Greek
  • Spanish
  • And most Western European languages

Voice-Over & Recording Services

Since 1994, we have been offering voice-over and recording services.

The voice-over sessions can take place in a recording studio of the client’s choice or at our own facility in Athens. During the past 10 years, we have completed a multitude of cutting-edge projects which involved extended voice-over services. We are also involved in on-going collaborations with various Greek and foreign clients, regarding the constant updating and testing their voice-over projects.
